Problem
Smartphone users are not aware of what their mobile are capable off. They're not aware of the existing sensors in the mobile phones and certainly not aware of what it all does, and what it knows about you. Our client, Jungleminds, wants to let it's users know what these sensors are capable of through the 'Context Aware Design' assignment.
Goal
The client requested a nightmare scenario application inspired by the tv show "Black Mirror". The requirements for the nightmare scenario application was to include the usage of the smartphone sensors.
Our client requested a nightmare scenario app that was inspired by the tv show “Black Mirror”. The nightmare scenario had to include the use of mobile phone sensors and had to repel the user from ever using the app. Unfortunately for them, the app is mandatory if you want to join any school.
Design choices
As a team we were aiming for an innocent look without thinking that the application will be causing any harm. To achieve this feeling we used a warm and soft gradient by using pastel colors and an easy-to-read font.
The lay-out of the application is designed in a minimalistic and mechanical way. This way the application has a strong look on the functionality and gives the user(s) a sense of obligation.

Result
The result of this assignment, the team designed an application which allows the users of the application to rate and comment on the behaviour of other students, teachers and staff members within The Hague University. Each user has his/her account with a rating. The rating are based on the given score/comment by friends/ classmates/ teachers and/or staff members. Based on the user's score he/she can unlock certain benefits to use within the campus.
For example, a student has unlocked the benefit to use the elevator when he/she reached 3.5 stars. But whenever the score is below this, he/she cannot use the elevator and has to use the stairs instead. When the score reaches it's minimum score of one star, the user has a chance to receive a major punishment. In this situation the punishment varies when it comes down to a user. Students are risking to get expelled from the school and teachers/staff members could get fired.
